The Cross of Honour of the German Mother, or Mother’s Cross for short, was founded by Adolf Hitler on 16 December 1938. The design of the Cross of Honour is by Franz Berberich. The introductory words of this regulation read: As a visible sign of the German people’s thanks to mothers with many children, I donate the Cross of Honour of the German Mother. ” The further rules of procedure were published in the statute of the same name, the order was popularly called “Karnickelkreuz”.
