An early factory produced example. Main purpose was to serve as a protective gas hood. The hood is chemically treated, retains its usability and distinct odor. The hood was commonly used extensively during the Winter of 1944 and most importantly during the « Ardennes Offensive / Battle of the Bulge » as a cold weather hood. It provided excellent warmth and usually worn under the helmet. It is in near mint condition with no rips, tears or staining. All factory sewn green plastic buttons are present. Cutters tag is still attached and washed out. Maintains its size label along the back neck area « S » for Medium. An iconic piece of US headgear in excellent condition.
